THE SACRED LOTUS: FROM ITS CULTURE TO YOUR SKIN
The Sacred Lotus, a symbol of resurrection in Asia and with an extraordinary resilience, is a flower that is said to never wither or age. Indeed, a team of researchers at U.C.L.A. succeeded in germinating a seed that is approximately 1300 years old. The quintessence of beauty and longevity.
From May to October, it is grown by KENZO's exclusive partner along the Mekong River in Laos. Very early in the morning or at the end of the day, each Sacred Lotus Flower is hand-picked at the right stage of flowering, without losing a petal or touching the water, in order to preserve all its qualities and capture them into two extracts of natural origin.
The Sacred Lotus Flower Water Extract is obtained from an extraction with a hydro-glycolic solvent of natural origin allowing the extraction of flavonoids, molecules known for their anti-free radical properties.
The Sacred Lotus Flower Oily Extract is obtained from an extraction with an oily solvent of natural origin allowing the extraction of phytosterols, sterols being molecules constituting the lipidic matrix of the epidermis.
CERTIFIED ethically sourced BY UEBT - SACRED LOTUS FLOWER CHAIN
Since 2021, KENZO Parfums is a member of the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), a non-profit association internationally recognized for its standards that define ethical sourcing practices for raw materials.
The UEBT evaluates the impact of a supply chain on human beings and biodiversity according to 153 indicators, including the sustainable use of biodiversity, the recycling of water resources and the support of the local economy with working conditions that respect local actors.
One year after the launch of KENZOKI skincare products and for the first time in LVMH Fragrance Brands history, we are proud to announce that our Sacred Lotus Flower chain is certified Ethically Sourced by the UEBT, attesting that we meet their demanding specifications and testifying we contribute working towards a positive impact on biodiversity and the local population.

KENZOKI is committed to a more beautiful world, and to your skin. The formulas are composed of at least 90%* of ingredients of natural origin and meet very strict formulatory specifications for the respect of all skin types. Textures and fragrances bring a feeling of well-being with each application. This has been tested** as well as the skin benefits for each formula.

REDESIGNED PRODUCTS FOR A BEAUTIFUL WORLD
As part of our ongoing effort to improve our environmental footprint, we have introduced recycled plastic on certain parts of our packaging. This means that some of our packaging may not be immaculate white but may have a few black spots, without impacting the integrity of formulas. Recycled plastic represents 20% of the plastic used by Kenzoki and allows us to save 5.2 tons of fossil plastics*.
The cases are printed with bio-sourced inks and paperboard with fiber from well-managed FSC™ certified forests and other controlled sources. We adjusted the size of the cases, removed inserts and cellophane to save 1.8 tons** of paper.

A FULLY TRACED SACRED LOTUS FLOWER CHAIN
Kenzoki is also committed to its Sacred Lotus Flower chain. We have chosen to harvest all the flowers from a unique supplier, to which we have made a long-term commitment to develop and improve the chain.KENZO is committed to carry out an assessment of its Sacred Lotus chain in order to determine its positive impact on biodiversity and local populations and identify potential improvements. This assessment is performed by the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), a non-profit association which is internationally renowned for its standard which defines practices for ethical sourcing of ingredients from biodiversity. The association has made it its mission to help nature to regenerate, to ensure a better future for the planet and its inhabitants. Kenzo Parfums became a member in 2021.As a complement to this assessment and after discussions with our partner, we decided to finance and build a platform on stilts to protect workers and the flowers once harvested, during the rainy season.
